I like to fish. Often I will go out with some friends in a boat on the ocean. And once we get to a spot where the fish are biting, we have to keep the engine running constantly to stay in the area where the bite is because there are ocean currents, the tide is coming in or going out, and the wind is blowing.

The moment you cut the motor, it’s amazing how quickly the boat begins to drift. In a matter of seconds, you’ve drifted out of the area where you want to be. And if you are not careful, you will drift right into the rocks and shipwreck!

The same thing is true spiritually when it comes to the Word of God. You and I must keep our spiritual motor running in order to stay in the area where we receive healing and direction and peace and strength and all of the other benefits that God promises. We must be in God’s Word consistently!
