Have you ever wondered about your purpose here on earth? I know I have! There are times I’ve asked myself, “Why on earth am I here? What is my purpose?”

The starting point to answer that question is found in Jeremiah 29:11, where it says that God has good plans for us, that we have a future and a hope. So it’s good to know that God has a good plan for us and a good purpose for us. He made us for a good reason.

As you think about your purpose here on earth, it’s important to know that it starts with God. Colossians 1:16 in The Message Bible says, “For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.”

This passage tells us that everything… absolutely everything… began in Him and finds its purpose in Him. So rather than looking to ourselves, we need to look to God. That’s the place we’ll find our purpose.

There are three parts to the purpose God has for us. You and I were:

  1. Planned for God’s pleasure (Revelation 4:11)
  2. Formed for God’s family (Ephesians 1:5)
  3. Created to become like Christ (Romans 8:29)

So today, if you are wondering about your purpose… or wondering if you even have a purpose… be encouraged. God has a purpose for your life, which He has planned from eternity. I pray you will grasp that purpose today!
